Kindergarten Lead Teacher (Fall 2026)

Hannah Senesh Community Day School, a progressive, independent K–8 Jewish school in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, is hiring a Kindergarten Lead Teacher for the 2026–27 school year. The ideal candidate is a warm, nurturing, and reflective educator with strong early childhood teaching experience. Salary range: $75,000-$90,000, commensurate with experience. Responsibilities include:

  • Assuming lead teaching responsibilities in a kindergarten classroom
  • Collaborating closely with an associate teacher to support instruction, routines, and student needs
  • Developing and maintaining a warm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
  • Teaching ELA, math, science, and social studies in alignment with existing curriculum and scope and sequence
  • Differentiating instruction and materials to meet the diverse needs of learners
  • Supporting students’ social-emotional development and classroom community
  • Maintaining documentation of curriculum and student progress
  • Collaborating closely with grade-level colleagues, specialists, and student support staff
  • Partnering with families to support student learning and transitions
  • Participating in faculty meetings, grade-level meetings, and professional development as appropriate
  • Fulfilling duties and other out-of-classroom responsibilities associated with the role

Qualifications and Dispositions include:

  • MA degree in education preferred
  • Three or more years of experience working as a lead teacher in an elementary or early childhood setting
  • Familiarity with structured literacy and Singapore Math preferred
  • Commitment to a whole-child approach that supports academic, social, and emotional growth
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Collaborative, flexible, and reflective teaching practice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and a commitment to diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusive community
