Latine/Hispanic Heritage Month

This annual celebration began in 1968 to celebrate the rich histories, cultural wealth, and contributions of Hispanic/Latinx communities to the United States. The celebration officially became a month-long celebration in 1988. The reason why it started in mid-September was to align with many of the dates that Latin American Countries celebrate and commemorate their independence from Spain.
