The Community Theater Academy at Walnut Hill School for the Arts is seeking a passionate and skilled private voice teacher to join our team. We specialize in providing engaging and supportive musical experiences for kids, with a focus on fun-based learning. If you have a knack for working with younger students and a love for helping them grow in confidence and skill, we’d love to hear from you!
Hours:
Part-time. Hours per week would depend on enrollment and be limited to start (hours may grow based on demand) – available studio times are:
- Mondays 6 PM & 7 PM (two lesson spots)
- Tuesdays 4 PM, 5 PM, 6 PM & 7 PM (four lesson spots)
- Thursdays 4 PM, 5 PM, 6 PM & 7 PM (four lesson spots)
- Fridays 4 PM, 5 PM, 6 PM & 7 PM (four lesson spots)
- Saturdays & Sundays: All Day Open availability
Job Responsibilities:
- Teach private voice lessons (45 minutes per session) to students in 2nd – 8th grade;
- Create a fun, engaging, and supportive learning environment that inspires young singers;
- Focus on building fundamental vocal techniques while encouraging creativity and confidence;
- Utilize adequate piano skills to assist students in learning melodies, warm-ups, and providing accompaniment as needed.;
- Incorporate basic knowledge of vocal pedagogy into lessons to ensure proper technique and healthy singing habits; and
- Communicate with parents about their child’s progress when necessary.
Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a related field in the performing arts;
- Previous experience teaching voice lessons to children younger than high school age;
- Knowledge of musical repertoire appropriate for young singers;
- Strong understanding of vocal pedagogy and child-friendly teaching techniques;
- Proficient piano skills to accompany students during lessons;
- Energetic, patient, and enthusiastic personality, with a passion for working with children;
- Strong communication and organizational skills; and
- Flexible schedule to accommodate student bookings.
