As a key member of the Innovation team, the Data Scientist Co-op will join a team of experts to research and develop new products to exceed the expectations of the American consumer. The emphasis of this role will be on the development of novel materials and processes to enhance the functionality of upcoming product lines. The Co-op will also support the development of new technologies and designs which provide market-leading performance and encourage consumer acceptance. The Co-op will have the opportunity to assist with laboratory analysis to characterize and validate innovative design concepts.

Job Responsibilities

  • Use various machine learning software to mine various online product reviews (including competitive data)
  • Apply machine learning techniques to determine positive and negative sentiment and categorize the feedback appropriately based on the product family
  • Use findings of data mining to help give feedback to the R&D teams on improvement actions and future planning to improve reviews
  • Utilize machine learning techniques to enable gathering of product insights from social apps/platforms and build dashboards to enable other team members to utilize these.
  • Assist in analyzing data from research events to recognize key insights.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to help build sales tools that highlight various outputs from large datasets – including, but not limited to, sales and rebate incentives, competitive analysis, product inventory & location, service & quality data, etc.
  • Looks for opportunities within the business to use their skillsets to improve processes within the team
  • Ability to meet with customers/potential customers to discuss product reviews and ratings and help answer questions about their process

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in Computer Science/ Data Science undergraduate or graduate program (or similar)
  • Experience working independently on research projects
  • Goal-oriented and self-managed
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
  • Proficiency with Python and other programming languages.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience web-scraping
  • Experience building dashboards (Tableau, AWS Quicksight, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Amazon Web Services Experience
