This Opportunity
FPA is currently searching for a full-time Geotechnical Staff Engineer for our Wall Township, New Jersey office. The ideal candidate will have broad-based, hands-on experience in Geotechnical engineering. Your Impact at FPA
Core Responsibilities
- Perform field assignments including observation of geotechnical explorations.
- Oversee engineering services during construction on projects involving shallow and deep foundations, support of excavations and earthwork operations.
- Prepare field boring/test pit logs on a variety of projects to document subsurface composition and groundwater level.
- Prepare field reports and engineering calculation packages.
- Prepare technical specifications, design drawings, and construction submittals for compliance with contract requirements and design assumptions.
- Review and assist with assigning field and laboratory soil and material testing.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and team members.
- Lifting weights of up to 75 pounds for field density testing
- Observe and monitor various types of constructions including deep foundation installation, utility installation, subgrade preparation, backfill, pavement repair, and support of excavation installation.
- Draft geotechnical reports and technical correspondences.
Who You Are
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred or can obtain EIT certificate.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to maintain and operate personal and/or company vehicle.
- Experience or academic training with geotechnical software such as APile, LPile, WEAP Slide, Settle3D, is preferred.
- Soils laboratory experience is a plus.
- Following certifications, a plus: Nuclear Density Gauge Operator; American Concrete Institute (ACI) Level I Inspector; and/or Related certifications from ICC
